today. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> san jose police are investigating the city's 45th homicide of the year. janine de la vega is on the scene where a man was stabbed just hours ago. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. well, we know that witnesses are back at the police station getting interviewed. here on the scene, investigators are inside this photographry business called the agency here on oakland road. police say at 3:00 a.m. this morning, they received a 911 call from someone saying a man had been stabbed. they arrived and were told by witnesses that during a party a fight broke out and a man was stabbed once in the stomach. he was rushed to the hospital but died. police are still trying to figure out what the argument was about. >> we don't have any motive for the homicide. but we are actively investigation. we are investigating the incident this morning. >> reporter: police tell us the victim was 30 years old. he's not been identified because they are trying to get in touch with his family. now, we were told that by -- by one of the guests tha

directions on the 35. that's good news for traffic. live in daly city, brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, brian. >>> hours ago in hayward several people ran to escape flames at an abandoned pago t building. this happened about three hours ago off dixon and copperfield avenue. ktvu's tara moriarty is here now. you got there shortly after the fire started. you talked to some of the fire victims. what are they saying? >> reporter: right now, arson investigators are here on the scene -- scene are trying to figure out if this is the case. when a woman came downstairs early this morning, she said the living room was filled with smoke and flames. she and her son ran out. this is video from the hayward fire department. crews say that the top and bottom floors of the apartment unit off dixon street and they got here. firefighters were able to knock it out within ten minutes and prevent it from spreading to other people's homes. the woman who lives here told us that she heard a crashing sound. she believes this fire was done on purpose. >> she describes somebody threw something

redwood city. they were hospitalized after a hazmat scare. firefighters with the sequoia trailer park -- went to the sequoia trailer park and say people there had set off a bug fogger but did not leave the home. they called 911 after starting to deal the effects of the insect tide. firefighters and -- insecticides. firefighters and three residents were taken to the hospital. they are all expected to be okay. >>> well, classes resume, schools are open again this morning in newton, except for sandy hook elementary. we have new details about the mother of the shooter in that rampage. people who knew nancy lanza say she was devoted to her children. one aunt said she would come to school and help her son who was a quiet child. many say that nancy would also help friends an traingers. in the meantime, we still know very little about why the young gunman killed children at that elementary school. the fbi said they couldn't get information from a computer at the gunman's home because he had destroyed it with either a hammer or a screwdriver before that massacre. while we're hearing stories of

-- around haywood to the south of oakland. haywood, union city, about to move into san ramone. solano scattered rain to report for this part of the bay area. bulk of the activity in the southern third of the bay area. you can see development out to the west. the yellows and reds, indicating the increase in the rainfall rates san jose to sunnyvale. out toward campbell, blossoo m hill road. increase in the rainfall and the possibility of hail with some thunderstorms. keep that in mind at least in the short term. as far as temperatures, its cool. mainly in the 40s to around 50. santa rosa in 40. haywood 48 and san jose around 46 degrees. forecast for today, cool showers this morning, we will hold on to the chance of showers right on in to the afternoon with temperatures only maxing out in the low to mid50s. yesterday's storm, that cold front, today we have the speckled clouds off shore. that's a signature of cold unstable air and that will sweep in to the area for today. we will hold onto the sun, passing clouds and heavier downpours. here is the forecast model, 10:00 showing you

. particularly tara, the east bay, not looking good? >> yeah, union city, hayward, 880 is congested. let's take a look at the maps. we have an accident on the shoulder at whipple road. this is in the southbound direction. it's causing some delays and we have the center line blocked at 880 southbound at jackson street. across the bray here, you can see we have another accident, i- 80 northbound at the 92 split. give yourself some extra time because it looks like there's a lot of debris in the roadway, they have moved it over. at the bay bridge toll plaza, you can see that traffic is backed up. the metering lights are on. highway 4, you can see we have slow traffic westbound. they are a little bit more of a breeze kicking in. that's going to help stir things around. there were some pockets of fog. so far it just seems to be cloudy to mostly cloudy. a little bit cooler. 51. 52, santa rosa and a little breeze is also helping stir things up and keep the temperatures. but a northwest breeze is scouring out some of the fog. whole patterns change. it looks like we go very quiet. i think the
